Bacchus, YOUR brand of “feminism” IS erotic. It’s not fair for the guy who used the term against you in a negative way to employ it incorrectly.
I’d take being called a feminist as a compliment! I say wear that badge proudly. A true feminist is a person who believes that women should be treated fairly, given the same opportunities as men, have a right to a satisfying sex life full of personal pleasure, and promote positive images of females, and have virtually limitless options for expressing their femininity. Both sexes win as a result, and from what I’ve seen, that’s pretty much where you stand.
Those females whose agenda is to bash males, and stifle femininity aren’t feminists. They do a disservice to both sexes. Sexless androgyny isn’t pro-feminist, it’s just …well… androgyny! “A rose is a rose, is a rose…”

I’m so used to comments from Christian fundamentalists, fag bashers and prudes that I’ve gotten where I click the comment deletion link with giving it a second thought anymore. I’m much more deeply griped by the people who think my weblogs comment sections can be used for commercial advertising.

Chris, I very much appreciate your comments. Even putting aside the tired stereotypes of feminism that date from a few decades back, though, I wouldn’t apply the word to myself because feminists seem to me to be too reluctant to accept that men and women are fundamentally different on many levels. I love and respect women, but I revel in the differences between us.
The long, vital, and largely-complete struggle for equality under the law took a wrong turn, I think, when some feminists began to demand that men and women be treated alike by each other (as opposed to “by the law and the courts”). Modern feminism too often seems to desire mandatory public androgyny — a prospect that horrifies me to my core.
As for political correctness, that’s actually a term that I find has some value. It connotes, to me, a certain joyless refusal to entertain debate on the ideological point under discussion. Ironically, “reactionary types” generally do not understand this, and believe it to be a euphemism for “lefty bullshit”. Often, people using the term this way are, in their own circles, among the most politically correct.
Back to my thanks, though: I have long been flattered by people who contrast ErosBlog with the “icky” sex sites out there. I work at appreciating sexual material in my unreconstructed het way while avoiding the leering tone that pervades most porn sites, or for that matter your average Maxim magazine. It’s always gratifying to hear that I’m succeeding.

You know, Bacchus, based on what I read when I visit your site, I think you *are* a feminist, in that you clearly value women very much and seem to view their sexual pleasure as equally important to men’s, and you call sexism out when you see it (your post the other day about the “dancing slut” video, for example, was awesome). Some sex sites sometimes make me feel rather icky when I visit them. Yours doesn’t at all.
The term “politically correct” is such b.s., though. Reactionary types like to toss it out in an attempt to shut up whoever they object to. As soon as someone pulls that old line out of the bag, I figure they’re no longer worth my time. Pfffft.

I don’t remember deleting a “that’s sick” comment from this person, but he sounds aggrieved, so I must have. He mentions “preventing me from posting”, but so far the only IP bans I’ve put in were for people spamming their porn sites. In any case, below is the email he sent, in the interest of making sure his friendly perspective gets a full voice. I will say, this is the first time I’ve ever been accused of being either PC or feminist:
