Here’s a sex poem by a QUOTE thirteen year old virginity enthusiast UNQUOTE.
We won’t fall into bed ’til we’re legally wed!
We will not heave [sic] sex; this is what we have said.
We’re not falling for the old standards; we’ll tell you that now.
It’s not bad! Don’t have a cow!
Virginity rules so we’re protecting our rights,
Our bodies are treasures; we won’t give ’em up without a fight.

Other than the awful spelling, I’m kinda torn.
The abstinence at 13, yeah that’s good. My GF has daughters 13 and 14 and abstinence is a *good* thing at that age.
But the tone and the attitudes are just awful. My God. If her daughters started spouting off crap like this: *first* we’d see what cult/organization they’d joined and have them deprogrammed, secondly there’d be a bit of corrective explanation.
[I have a mental image of what girls spouting stuff like this at 13 are like at 20. Either the campus whore, or on track to living alone and unshaved with 13 cats and 3 pairs of Birkenstocks…. And bad spellers, both.]
Good points, MstrThoth. OTOH, is “I want the right to abstain” really such a bad attitude?
Some girls and women out there *don’t* have the right to abstain, because they live in places where other people have the right to rape them. It’s much sexier to be able to save sex for when you *want* it, whether you don’t want it until the 3rd date or until marriage or until whenever. ;)
Hmm..I wonder what the poet would say if someone reminded her “You actually sound like some kind of liberal sexual freedom activist, lots of conservatives* think you shouldn’t have so many sexual rights and think you should be pregnant by now…”?* such as the parents who marry off preteen Hmong girls, Maasai girls, Roma girls, etc. and the husbands who fuck them immediately even if they’re screaming no

Good grief, if being a virgin at 13 is “sad,” then at what age isn’t it? 12? 11? 7? You don’t need to be anti-virgin-children to be pro-erotica, after all. ;)
What’s sad is not 13-year-old virgins (I’d want my daughters to be virgins at that age) but rather 13-year-olds who are programmed to equate sex with perversion and chant anti-sex propoganda. The whole point is that they don’t yet have the tools to make adult decisions about sex, but that’s no excuse to interfere with that capacity as it should be developing.
Am I the only person thinking…SPANKING!!!
