Glad to hear your moving to wordpress Bacchus. I am just starting to use the brand new wordpress 2.0 on a new site and it is great. When you make the move I highly suggest you use the spam karma 2 plug-in. It works wonders. It is only on a rare day that a spammer gets through and that is only when it is done by hand. The bots get zapped everytime.

With you on this one, Bacchus!
I`m into a bit of serious torture for spammers!
After resisting the `word verification` measures on my blog for a long time, I finally got fed up having to delete between 10-15 robot spam comments a day, and relented.
The word verification does the trick and blocks most of them, but occasionally one still manages to get through.
I don`t moderate the comments on my site in any other way than the word verification thing which stops things like price lists for peoples products, I like the idea of a variety of comments!
Serious torture for spammers might not stop them, but at least we`d have some fun doing it!!!!

I'm quite happy that blogspot now offers moderation for comments. I keep my comments on moderation status and this works very well for me. What I love is I can mass delete!

Hugs Des

Darlin, threating spankings for misdeeds is going to result in unintended consequences, LOL! Spammers who do not know the joy of the fire on one's ass and thighs from a well given spanking will keep spamming and the rest of us will be spamming for fun to get spanked.

In any case, I've had to go to moderated comments because of the volume of spam and ridiculous commentary. I wouldn't spank any of them.

Isn't the spam blocked if you do that word verification thing? I'm seeing that everywhere lately.

Vixen, there's a paysite I'd *run*, if I could be assured of a steady supply of spammers and a supportive legal jurisdiction.

Hmm, I wonder how they feel about spammers in Singapore?

Aphrodite is correct -- this blog software doesn't allow any pre-filtering or moderation; all spam has to be deleted after-the-fact. Which is the biggest reason we'll be going to WordPress one day soon.

Unrelated to that... do you have any idea what happened to Juicy Pair? I seem to recall getting the link to their blog from you, and thought you may know why they disappeared.

Zick, you're not enough of a computer geek. That's where the word "luser" comes from. As Bacchus said better than I did, what we're talking about would NOT be fun. Although some of the ideas you guys have would be!!

I don't think Graymatter does comment moderating, so I'm betting that we'll be finding better software soon.
