Visually, the white background contrasts almost perfectly with her dark skin. Maybe an allusion to her being black in a white mans world (which if this was taken in the 70s or 80s would be more true than it is today, but still a powerfull image.) .....or maybe the white should connote purity which is yet another contrast to the sexual, "non pure" pose of the model. one way or another the background contrasts the subject and is probably meant as some kind of quiet irony, dude. some of the pics artistic appeal is in the background.
