Violet Blue suggests wrist straps; Niven recommends bungee cords. There won’t be any weight, but bodies do have mass and inertia. Push in, and you’ll bounce apart – if there isn’t something to pull you back together. Ergo, bungee cords.

For a more “natural” experience, check out the mammals who actually live in a “weightless” environment. Astronauts train for zero-G in underwater simulators; dolphins live in salt water.

When dolphins fuck, it’s often a communal affair, I’m told. One male dolphin “does the deed” with the female, while his buddies get behind her and push. (I read this years ago, and don’t remember where; and it’s apparently not on the ‘Net.)

So in space, human sex may work better in groups; and it may be more fun that way, anyway. :-)

There’s actually a science fiction book called Stardance by Spider and Jeanne Robinson that is mostly about a performance art team in space, but it explores the idea of zero-G sex as well. I really liked it a lot as it explores quite a few possibilities, and right up until the end, it all seems oh so possible to me.

One of the big things I remember from that book is the fact that rape will be so very much harder, if not impossible, in space. It is a cooperative event as your blogger stated, needing coordination of both parties. If one party is unwilling? It’s going to take a whole lot to get them to the point where their say doesn’t matter. And by then, one would have a whole lot of other problems most likely.

All in all, I think it is going to be a part of our future, and that means until it becomes commonplace, it’s going to be a kink. Anyone got a name for it? Spaceophilia?
