Just a couple notes to add. The majority of women I've been with have had a clitoris that extends outside of the hood. My current partner is the only one to have a clitoris that I have to uncover.

On the subject of phallic representation, I dealt with issues in that area for a long time. I am rather large both in length and width but seeing women in pornography and individuals in my life discuss, fantasize and interact with larger than life representations of myself made me self-conscious. I talked with a therapist to resolve my issues and have found a loving partner who has helped me with it as well. Still, I am drawn to pornography that depicts women who are enthralled by objects that can only be described as massive.

As a lesbian and a feminist you may at first find this sexist but I am greatly aroused by the idea of a woman enjoying my penis just short of the point of worship. After some soul searching I believe that I feel this way because of the connection I have with my penis and does not have anything to do with the domination of the opposite sex. Male masturbatory aids have been a great way for me to live out some of my fantasies in this area without having to bring my partner outside of her comfort zone.

Grown-ups realize that a lover you can trust who accepts your kinks is worth way more than pursuing fantasies in real life. My man's fantasies are really kinda tame compared to mine. I think men get a little freaked out when they find out just how wild a woman's inner sexual life really is. It's getting better, but we still can't/don't express ourselves equally when it comes to lust.
That's it! Thank you Bacchus, figleaf, Magdalena, Phillip Clark, and all you people who put it out there. You folks have helped me understand a lot of human nature, not just sexuality. I do love a puzzle.

How do men feel about phallic toys being larger than the average male?

FINE. It's fantasy. Who would I be to say that no woman deserves to play with a phallus bigger than a 'regular' penis? That's BS. It's called creative license, from a design standpoint. Not to mention the many women who just love to be filled and stretched by something they might not otherwise get the chance at...

I can'understandall the brouhaha raised by cheryl...

By her own admission she says "I have on only the rarest of occasions, seen a clitoris that large and pronounced" (22nd aug).

Even if it's rare, then why can't she accept that the doll is question might have been made keeping in mind those rare vulvas.

And, moreover, for cheryl, it seems to be a clear case of "What I haven't seen, doesn't exist"

I couldn't agree with you more about phallic sex toys, Koshka. I wonder how men feel about that? Surely, it's got to be as disturbing to them as the caricaturism of female anatomy is to me yet I've never heard them discuss it. Never seen it discussed in the blogosphere, either, though I might just be in the wrong places.

And, Koshka...now you know what to ask for from your husband for Christmas, if you can wait that long. : )

Phallic sex toys and male porn stars also misrepresent the reality and variety of the average male body. They are idealized larger-than-life fantasies. The problem comes for the people who can't separate the two and expect that cartoonish perfection in their real life partners.

Ever see those ancient fertility figurines? How about those impossibly perfect, romantic sexual machines in romance novels and fanfics? There've always been sexual ideals that many (most) can't meet. I'm glad we see it, recognize it, and come here and talk about it.

Now I'm going to watch the porn I downloaded last night with the huge beautiful black man with tattoos who looks nothing like my husband. My husband likes to look at BIG boobs, which I don't have. We still love sex with each other after 18 years. It has everything to do with me showing him I accept every kinky bone in his body and me realizing he accepts me the same way.

Last thought: I have totally wanted to try the male version of that doll ever since I saw it on Realsex.

What I said was useless was "practicing" clitoral stimulation on a manequin. The only way to truly gauge the effectiveness of clitoral stimulation is via direct feedback from your female partner. I don't see how anything positive (for a future female partner) is to be gained from practicing strokes or licks or tongue flicks on a doll. The doll can't tell you to ease up or move a little to the left, "yeah, there..."

Now, if one has been given a specific "homework" assignment from a present female partner on which to practice, then I guess I could understand the concept of practicing. Or perhaps as an exercise aide for those less endowed with facial, particularly lingual, muscles. That's a valid reason.

I hadn't considered the visual aspect of it and that's very valid, I admit.

I think I may have to give up ErosBlog, sadly. I realized, as I read your response to my comments, that this is a feminist issue for me. My commentary was primarily directed at the design of the doll. As a nurse for 22 years, 17 of them in inpatient Women's Health and, to a lesser degree, as a lesbian, I have seen a lot of vulvas. I have on only the rarest of occasions, seen a clitoris that large and pronounced.

My issue is not with a man who derives his sexual pleasure from the use of such a doll. Please. Everyone should do what pleases them, as long as no one is being hurt against their will.

My issue is with the distortion of normal female anatomy in the design of the doll. This doll does not represent the vast majority of the women in the world. My issue is with a culture that perpetuates these kind of myths about women. So many of those myths have cause so much pain for many women already. Isn't it time we tried to stop?

This is not "realism." (Though the thought of a vulva completely devoid of a clit is even less appealing to me) This is a fallacy and that is part of the problem. Are there any sex dolls out there that are genuinely realistic or does this represent the vast majority of this type of product available. I have to admit I don't know myself because I have my own areas of interest when I'm on those sites.

I grant anyone the right to do whatever s/he wishes and with whomever (assuming consenting adults and no unwanted pain, etc., etc...). But, to me, it's equally important to discuss areas that so directly impact on sex and sexual relationships, namely how men and women see themselves and each other. Sex is a lot more than the meeting of flesh. It's soooo brain-based andI don't think I can separate my passion for women's rights and gaining the respect we deserve enough to keep my blooming mouth shut.

Thank you for the fun I've had here and I wish you well, Bacchus. I have (mostly) enjoyed myself. Fare well.
