The article lost me at the Al Gore jab. That shows me how much any thinking was done about the subject.

Stupidity is inherent in the mainstream media because they have to gawk at and hawk every passing phenomenon to make a big deal out of it, otherwise no one would notice or care... As if ups and downs were not part of life or business as usual. The jab at Al Gore is definitely below the belt. What I find strange, however, is the use of the label "pornography," which is not a very nice-sounding word and which has very negative associations in general. Would it not be politically clever to stop using and replace it with a more positive designation, like "pro-sex" (which has a built-in ambiguity)? Whatever name it goes by, it should sound as good as it is supposed to make you feel. On the other hand, the comodification and consumerization of the whole shebang ain't so great.
