One of the best things that ever happened to me at one of my annuals at Planned Parenthood, was my nurse practicioner offering me a hand mirror and asking if I wanted to look at my cervix while the speculum was in.
I have equal health benefits at my local PP clinic, and at my "regular" doctor, but I will always go to my PP clinic first, because they are so female positive and non-judgemental.

Annie Sprinkle is one of my heroes:

"Her best known theater and performance art piece is her Public Cervix Announcement, in which she invites the audience to "celebrate the female body" by viewing her cervix with a speculum and flashlight. "

cool diagram for me. i have had a desire to obtain a speculum and view my own parts for ten years (since my first gyno exam) because (and this may be a weird reason for some of you) i find it unacceptable that some strange random people in white coats have seen parts of me that i have not.

that part of me IS visible. they can see it without using scopes or anything like that. gods know haw many people in white coats or scrubs have seen it: gynos, nurses, student nurses (cause i kind don't mind being a "teaching aid") etc. and I HAVEN'T. this irks me. it actually really bothers me. i know what my cervix FEELS like. i can imagine what it looks like, but i've never seen it.

and by god, by the end of the year, i really really WANT TO DO THIS. it's MY cervix, darnit. how come I'M the one who hasn't seen it?

I've found g-spots without the use of a speculum, my technique is to ensure the woman is well-aroused (regular checks of the labial area both allow for finding out if moisture is present and helping along arousal). Of course, if she demands that you touch her and groans loudly when your finger presses against a slightly nubbly area, you've hit the mother load.

Haven't you ever engaged in speculum play? How did you find your G-spot?

Maybe the doctor has no hands/arms/is otherwise unable to manipulate the speculum, yet is still perfectly capable of inspecting female parts?
