Wow! I like Bruce Sterling. Sure wish I could understand what the fuck he's talking about!
I agree that newspapers are a dead media. I work for one.

Rodeo: Yeah, though I wonder if that's as much a signal-to-noise issue as anything else -- if there was as much now as there was then, would we find it among the vast firehose of the commercial stuff?

With that said, there's a particular bit of porn from the early days of the web -- 1993 or 1994 -- that I miss. What I recall from my furtive looks in an empty high-school computer lab (listening carefully for footsteps down the hall) was a small website with one photo page with three black-and-white photos, probably 320x200 or so, of a relatively young woman. I remember vaguely what her face looked like (long, dark hair), and I'm pretty sure that the first photo was of her naked and reclining, taken from between her legs. The last photo was a closeup of her vagina with a dollop of cum glistening in it.

The whole idea of it fascinated me. The idea, first of all, that someone in real life might have sex with someone she wasn't married to, with her husband watching and taking photographs. And that she might then post them on the internet for everyone to see. I'd had a fairly sheltered upbringing, and even though I had a vivid imagination, the idea that people might really do that, just because they wanted to, was amazing.

I really wish I could find a copy of the page, to see it again and see what it would look like now.

What I miss is the old home made porn when the web was in its infancy.
Now everything is fake as it can get, no matter how it
is titled, generally speaking.
