Actually, if this picture was taken overseas in one of the combat zones, it might be what was known as an “amnesty box”. Amnesty boxes were where you threw your prohibited items you may have inadvertently brought with you into a Muslim country…
Which might explain why the GI is standing there looking so disconsolate. I don’t know how to explain the woman’s expression though. Wonder if Porn is banned, but vibrators aren’t??
We had a similar box in Afghanistan, and the above poster is right, it is an amnesty box. Porn is not allowed in Muslim countries under (I believe) General Order #1. We put all of our prohibited items into plastic bags that were sealed in front of us, and received it all back upon out return stateside.
