Mmm… What’s life without fantasies …
As translated, the dialog reminds me of those polite twin animated groundhogs Mac and Tosh (mackintosh), with the polite British accents, who were known as the “Goofy Gophers” in Warner Bros./Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons, whose politeness often precluded them from accomplishing the task at hand.
I always thought that if they were trapped in a burning barn with only one tiny exit, they would both succumb to the smoke insisting that the other exit first.

If I were one of these two ladies, I believe that as soon as it stiffened, rather than initiating a conversation, I’d have glommed onto it…
