Indecent Blog Hosting
I got a note from Twiddly Bits asking me to let folks know her blog isn’t down forever. Seems she (and everyone else hosted by the Indecent Blogging folks — Red Sneaker Diaries and Naughty Secrets, to name two others on my blogroll, are also gone) has been down for two days, with no contact or response from Indecent Blogging. Ouch! Now I guess we know what’s indecent about that service!

Indecent was where we got our start, and I wouldn’t necessarily turn people away from it — as far as I can tell, it’s one Canadian trying to support adult blogging.. big on heart, low on time. More of a cross between message board community and blogging.

Yes, I have my two blogs hosted at my own company. Once had a blog hosted by someone else, but naked women pics had me shut down.
Brett, I don’t doubt the guy’s good heart, but it’s just heartwrenching for folks whose sites have been down for three days now. I’m negative about blogging services in general — I think people are *way* better off getting their own hosting from professional outfits with 24-hour help desks — and I’m *real* negative about blogging services run as a hobby or a public service, because they always winding up turning into a *disservice* as this one has.
Ahhhhh, THANK-YOU, I just posted about this, very useful we can link information otherwise however would we know? I thought vigilant Twiddlybits would be but wasn’t about Likwid because there wasn’t any fresh posts for a while.

Whatever – As much as I appreciate the IB’s help these past 2 years, I need to find another web host.

It was back (mostly) but now it’s gone again..

Excessive use of bandwidth would appear to be the current problem, although there was a good deal of repair work still to do after the server crash that brought down all the IB sites to begin with. The timing was unfortunate because ‘Indecent’ himself was on vacation at the time.
The whole incident led me to set up on my own, and I know that Cookiebush has found herself a new home courtesy of ‘Blogger’ (http://cookiebu....com/), but there’s still a lot of IB bloggers out there without a voice for the time being.
I’ve set up a new home at ‘Blogger’ like Cookiebush (http://hothardc....com/). Not much there yet though – I’m still finding my way round at the moment.
