Meg Ryan Having An Orgasm (Not)
I’m not one of these people who is a “fan” of actors and actresses. But I do, as Jon Stewart might say, like-ee me a pretty face in a movie. And I’ve always thought Meg Ryan’s face was exceptionally cute.
So of course it seems worthwhile to me to share a few grainy frames from her famous faked orgasm scene in the movie When Harry Met Sally:

There’s a great orgasm in Bruce Almighty too – delivered by Bruce from another room. That was Jennifer Aniston I think. Orgasms must look naturally absurd in Hollywood movies, they seem to be most explicit when used in comedies… but outside of Hollywood there’s always French movies for the real thing, hee hee.
One of my all-time favorite actresses, performing one of my all-time favorite scenes, in one of my all-time favorite movies (Even if it is a chick-flick…) I’ve been pondering setting it on my cell phone as a ring tone, but I just know I’d forget to switch it off in church at a funeral, or graveside at a burial, and that would just be wrong…
When Meg finished demonstrating the imitation climax (Which was far more believable than those typical pseudo-sounding callings in most pornos), at the deli table, and that older woman at a nearby table (with perfect comic timing and expression), told the waiter “I’ll have what SHE’S having” I could not possibly have suppressed my laughter. The fact that director Rob Reiner chose to give that bit part to his mother, Estelle Reiner, just adds to the overall charm of the scene. Me like-ee the Meg lady too. She definitely earned a spot in my heart that evening.
I love that movie, and i love meg ryan, and I think that scene is hysterical. But i so loath the whole concept of the faked orgasm that it always leaves me vaguely annoyed.
