Free Satyr Rides
If ErosBlog were the sort of billionaire’s hobby that meant we had purpose-built premises, and commissioned art to put in the colonnaded lobby, this right here is the sort of art I would want to commission to put in it:
If startled ingénues in short dresses, tall shoes, and summery hats suddenly inherit a new set of ancient Mediterranean erotic dreams and obsessions, well, what harm in that?
It would delight me to learn from some student of art history that this is a representation of an actual famous statue that exists in the world (Vatican library, anybody?) but until so informed, I must sadly assume it exists only in the fevered imagination of artist Giovanni Romanini. Let’s just look at the statuary detail, shall we?

It looks remarkably like a scene cut from Oh Wicked Wanda.
I love the engénue in short dress, would love to take her on a tour around the museum, yum yum!
She’s clearly in need of some classical education, if you know what I mean and I am pretty sure we all do…
Isn’t it inspired by the Pan Fucking a She-Goat from Pompeii?
I’d say that’s a reach, given the completely different posture and the fact that the lady doesn’t have fur or horns, but I don’t think we can ever say conclusively that an art-history assertion of that sort is precisely wrong…
“Mr Tumnus, whatEver shall I tell my siblings??”
Oh, looks like I was right. The young lady is copied directly line for line from Ron Embleton’s Candyfloss. The bronze may be original, though there was also a lot of statuary featured in Oh Wicked Wanda.

Cousin Anton appears to have only the upper half of a satyr.
Some nice bronze (and other) satyrs doing what satyrs do:

There are quite a few nice Viennese statues of satyrs with companions on this site but the best ones only come up when doing a google image search. YThey were sold a while ago.

I thought of Mark Blanton and Satyromania when I saw this.
While my other comment is awaiting moderation I should comment to the other commenters who appreciate the artwork on the young lady that many, many more pictures of Candyfloss can be found in Oh Wicked Wanda drawn by Ron Embleton, the artist from whom this was copied. She was the protagonist’s constant companion. I don’t know if anyone still has the entire run of the Penthouse comic Oh Wicked Wanda up on the nöosphere but seek the images and you will probably find.
Oh, and Candyfloss is no ingenue, she has well and truly genued in every imaginable way.
Very nicely spotted and visually referenced, Hug. Thank you so much!
