These days, images of prostitution seem to be mostly of spandex-clad hookers crouching behind dumpsters in the dark to give furtive street blowjobs. It was not always thus, especially when houses of prostitution still flourished in America:
Of course by the standards then prevailing, her outfit for this posed porn photo is probably the tawdry spandex tube top of its era. But still.

I dunno. Take a look at her mouth. I really think that she’s getting ready to put that penis in there. Just my humble opinion.
Is it me, or does it seem like the girls in unretouched, vintage pics have marvelously clear skin – far better than women today? Did they wear makeup for shoots, or is it just because we have so many environental impurities these days?
I’m not making a claim about any specific vintage picture, but vintage pictures in general were liable to have enjoyed quite a bit of darkroom jiggery-pokery, especially with an airbrush.

They did not need an airbrush back then. With the large-format negatives, “corrections” could be made directly to the negative with black or gray paint.

A part of the reason these models look so clear-skinned, is that the monochromatic sepia-tone photo tended to erase minor wrinkles and skin imperfections. Many models, actors, and actresses even today, use black and white 8″ x 10″ glossies to distribute to casting directors, because many skin flaws are not as easily recorded by the camera this way, and they often look a few years younger.

Another reason why monochromatic nudes have such flawless skin is that the camera “sees” things differently from the human eye. There are different wavelengths of light. Sepia may have seen things differently in either the negative OR the print (or BOTH).
Photographers can even choose to shoot black and white with what is known as “infrared” film. Instead of recording the reflected light, it records the heat. This allows the film to record just below the skin’s surface which is usually less flawed than the very top of the skin with its moles, age spots, zits, varicose veins, scars, birth marks, fine wrinkles etc.
You should be able to do a web search with the terms “infrared nude photography”, to get a more extensive explanation from someone who can describe it better.
When people are photographed in this manner outdoors, you can usually tell, because plants usually appear almost white.
