With my heart I want to believe that this artwork is enacting some sort of clever modern metaphor about putting women on pedestals:
But truthfully, based on the little bit I think I know about sex and history, this is probably a vintage artwork, perhaps thought to be droll, of a would-be punter checking the line-up of women at a brothel for “cleanliness”.
