I’m not sure if drawing this fellow’s head to be shaped like a splitting maul was supposed to be some sort of racist caricature, or not. But regardless, the lady with her face buried in her pillow is absolutely delectable:

Looks like some of the other slave-and-master’s wife sex representations that held some popularity from the Victorian through the 1970’s.
For those, the woman was always either pale or peach complected, and was alternatively drawn as frail or voluptuous. The slave was dark skinned and powerfully built, but always cautiously. Fist of all, the skin could never be too dark, and the body was never completely attractive. It always had some flaws built into it. The features were a wierd cross between causcasian and negro. If you think about it, it speaks volumes about the period and it’s artists. More than just the picture itself.
This particular style started dying off in the 1930’s and was almost completely gone by the 1970’s. Why? Becuase the artists who originated it and remember the most about slaves and slavery died off. Now, the genre still exists, but the figures are interpreted differently, with more fantasy and political correctness incorporated into them.
Still, as Bacchus did point out…the artist here really knows how to draw a butt.
