1944 Moralizers Asked: “Is Penicillin A Curse?”
It should not surprise me that the invention of penicillin resulted in public moralizers wasting breath and ink, worrying about the pernicious social effects of curing previously-fatal venereal diseases. It should not surprise me, but it’s still jarring to see:
