I really like her defiant stance and the challenging look in her eye. Maybe there isn’t some turn-of-a-century-ago hoodlum in her apartment, but even if there were, she looks like she expects to take his sap away from him and use it to teach him some manners (or possibly a lesson about prostrate stimulation she got from Books of India):

It looks like she shaved a strip of it on the side. Maybe it was going to be an ad for men’s shaving gear?
..or possibly in a vertical position?
