I’ve never thrown a pot. Is it always this messy?
If you’re doing it right
It’s messy, but it’s not this messy. If they were actually throwing pots instead of smearing slip all over each other, they would have a band of splatter across their bellies, right at the level of the pot being thrown, and their hands would be about the same, but otherwise they would be clean. And they would each be seated at their own wheel, of course.
(In real life as opposed to the pornoverse, one wears an apron.)
For me one of the most erotic movie scenes where everybody kept their cloths on was the pottery wheel scene in the movie “Ghost”.

What may be most important to know, is that wet clay of the kind normally used to throw pots on a wheel, is EXTREMELY slippery. This, more than anything else is likely why so many people associate making pottery with sexual activity.
