There’s just something about a white bathing suit that attracts octopuses, sea monsters, Kraken, and tentacled oceanic horrors of every description:

I’d suggest that damsels and heroines and every other sort of slow-swimming coastal babe ought to stop wearing those bait garments, but if the ladies enjoy a bit of tentacle peril, who am I to swimsuit-shame them?

As the story goes, there’s a creature in the Pacific that gets hungry every nineteen years or so and eats a girl. You’d think this to be a problem, but curiously, there’s never been any shortage of volunteers. Tentacles are involved, and inevitably the United States Navy, and mad scientists, and (how not?) philosophy. Eventually, a program is initiated to capture the creature for scientific study. If the ethics are a little twisted, well, it’s for science!
