To my eyes, this looks like a yearbook photo and caption. Yearbooks, by and large, are assembled by young people. Young people tend to have gaps in their understanding of the world. I’m suspecting the person who wrote this caption suffered from such a gap in his or her understanding:

Wasn’t “nothing” an Elizabethan euphemism for pussy? A learned victorian or somesuch might use it knowingly.
