Procreative Chastity, Anal Freedom
Here’s a museum-style picture of one of those historical chastity belts with which traveling men were once wont to encumber their wives:
Interestingly, although great and unsanitary lengths (note the viciously toothed slot) were taken to prevent the conception of unauthorized heirs, this device does not include the complete wrap-around iron strap with additional toothed opening at the rear, as was sometimes seen. Apparently the man buying this device was content to prevent good old vaginal sex; if he was concerned about any anal pleasure dalliances with the butler, he didn’t let it influence his purchasing decisions.

The man of olden days was, in all probability, much like the modern man: on the whole frustrated in the realm of anal action. If his wife won’t have it with him, he didn’t think he needed to worry about interlopers.
Pfft. It my husband had put that on me, I would have offered my bum to anyone with something to stick in it.
Would that prevent puppy-style? ‘Cause it looks like it doesn’t curve enough to block rear-(non-bum) entry. If that’s the case, like Rori, I’m offering up my ass — puppy-style is the best position anyhow. :)
not sure there was much butt action between the sexes pre industrial age. If a man was inclined that way, he entered the preisthood. For the sexes, it was hard enough keeping the population level growing to worry about wasting sperm in buttholes. Butt sex between the sexes is a relatively modern phenomena, although at the height of the Roman era, between the elites, it’s said to have been common.
“Butt sex between the sexes is a relatively modern phenomena”
Have you ever heard of the ancient land of Sodom, the one God smote for their sexual preferences? The root for the word “Sodomy.” Do you remember that in the story, as Lot and his wife flee the burning city, she looked back and was turned into salt. I think that says something about anal sex between the genders during that time.
I’ve been reading a book called “Jewel in the Lotus” about Oriental/Arabic/Indian sexual habits in the 19th century and earlier. While the Europeans of that time might have fainted at the thought of anal sex, many other cultures enjoyed Every form of intercourse. Every, Every, Every. Just because a certain culture does not practice a sexual act at a certain time does not mean their ancestors were so inclined.
That bible story is interesting. Sorry, it got lumped into the Roman era. Wonder if what happened to that city portends something for the lot of us.
In modern theology the “Sin of Sodom” is as likely to be inhospitability as yer actual buggery — and the historical theology is that it was homosexual intercourse. Lot was the one good man in the city, which is why he was allowed to flee. The “pillar of salt” episode sounds so much like Orpheus and Eurydice fleeing hell (he looks back to check she’s following her, and *pfft* she’s gone) to be accidental.
The ancient Greeks, by the way, preferred inter-crural shagging (between the thighs) for their hot man-on-man action and went back to their wives only to procreate.
Was I the only person to read “Butt sex between the sexes is a relatively modern phenomena” as “But sex between…” and wonder how on earth they procreated?
“How on earth they procreated”.
now we’re talking. The procreation need was always there. Look around now. Is it true?
The Butt sex craze between the genders, is only starting, and follows a pattern of increased sexual liberation.
First you got the hand job action, then came the blow job action, now women are showing sphincter and want the AJ action. Believe me, this is very new in the postmodern sense.
It was only a few years ago the Female cultural leaders were crying for ever larger cock. Now I don’t hear them. Is it because of a backlash? (sorry, pun intended)
“this is very new in the postmodern sense”
i have a postmodern ass? Who knew?
I thought, for some reason, that the sin of Sodom & Gomorroh was non-procreational sex, which might even include using contraceptives. Not sure where I got that idea though. :)
I’ve heard, though I could be wrong, that often women had anal sex to preserve their virginity for marriage, and though I can’t remember how far back it was said to happen, I’m thinking at least the 15 or 16th century. Again, I could be wrong.
Possibly the reason for this particular design was, to quote Bacchus, to prevent the conception of unauthorized heirs.
The idea of anal invasion may not have occurred although intercrural activity would have been somewhat painful…
Spanish girls are said to be keen from an early age on anal because it prevents pregnancies but keeps the boyf interested
They call it ‘turkish’
