Really Intense Roleplay
This Wired article discusses Sociolotron, an online roleplaying game (currently in beta) with mechanics that allow sex, bondage, even rape. The article talks a lot about the experience of players who are “raped” in game. It sounds to me like the engine is of broader interest, if only because it brings some of the social freedoms of ancient MUDs into the MMORPG world of today. Critically missing from the Wired article: screen shots.

Rape is not something fantasized about with any degree of realism.Perhaps they’ll also have some eight year old boys and girls who can be readily abused by those role playing as perverts (sex abusers, real or imagined), to give the “real” feel of sexual abuse? I think not. Just another way to cash in on some $$$ with no real intent, as implied by this article, that there might be some “benefits” to such role playing.
Interesting. I’m glad you told about this. And to the above poster Steve There are many people out there that does fantisize about rape it does not mean the want to really be raped. There is nothing wrong with acting it out with a person you trust in real life. Real non- consentual rape is always wrong and a terrible thing.
