How To Fix A Cock-Up
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an American publication that would make a risque pun while correcting an embarrassing typo, but according to The Spanking Writers the following appeared in the Guardian:
Oh dear. Even by our own exacting standards, managing to spell Penistone as Penistown was a bit of a cock-up.

The Guardian is British, which explains a lot. Love the site.
British? That does explain it. We don’t have a sense of humor in America. Though I found it amusing.
The Guardian is also reputed for frequently making spelling errors and typos, and is jokingly called the Grauniad by some. Hence the tongue-in-cheek bit about “exacting standards”. Bless ’em, nice way to make a correction!
The Guardian writers have a good sense of humour, which makes me think the use of the phrase “cock-up” was intentional.
