Skinny Dippers
What I love about this photograph is that there’s an element of surprise in their expressions, but there’s a great deal more delight, and they’ve clearly been given time to self-cover a bit, so they seem completely happy about the photograph:

After noticing in the original high resolution photo that their clothes have not been placed outside of the photo frame (as is common in professional photos), and that both heels and at least four toes of the woman in the foreground have white medical adhesive style of tape rather clumsily placed on them, my fantasy is that these gals are not professional models, but friends who hiked a long way to enjoy a private area where they felt they could comfortably skinny dip without hassle.
Questions abound such as:
Did they make the hike with the intention of posing nude?
Did they intend to go skinny-dipping all along?
Was the photographer male or female?
Was the photographer ALSO naked?
Did the women even know each other previously?
Had they been camping in a very remote area for several days, and just desperately needed to bathe?
Did someone just say something that made the gals giggle?
(Such as: “Helen, you should have this photo printed up as your Christmas cards this year!”…)
Was there a whole series taken? …and if so, what other silliness ensued (i.e., was there also a group butt shot…)?
Did they ever consider that the photo could end up on the worldwide web, or was it perhaps even taken pre-internet?
Is that rock the one woman is sitting on warm… or cold?
I wonder if there was a fourth in this group who snapped the photo, or if they ran into another person or party, who tripped the shutter. Maybe it was even a timer pic, but I like the idea that they made new friends who offered to do the honors…
Maybe the camera and film belonged to their new-found friends, who after suggesting the shoot, were allowed to take the memento back home with them…
