An Early Riding Vibrator
It’s the dildo for a saddle-horn that truly gives the game away, here:
As Maggie Mayhem says: “Y’all think you’re new and fancy with your Sybians and your iPhones. Whatever.”

“Inspiriting Action” is my new favorite euphemism.
“Personally ordered by HRH the Princess of Wales”.
Fun lady.
re:
“It is good… for the complexion…”
Yeah, that ought to bring some color to her cheeks…
…and re:
“it is a complete cure for… hysteria…”
This is so appropriately true if one takes into account the origins of the word “hysteria” (…from Ancient Greek ὑστεÏικός (hysterikos, “suffering in the uterus”
This must be what inspired the Sybian…
I’ll have to keep this invention in mind, for the next time I’m suffering from “…stagnation of the liver”
What an absolute gem! Once again my thanks go out to you Bacchus for bringing it to us.
It’s not just the dildo/saddle-horn that gives away its true purpose. Nearly every line is artfully constructed to hint at its masturbatory intention.
Hysteria was that condition of women characterised by irritability, emotional swings and throwing cutlery. Treated around the turn of the 20th century by the doctor’s manual dexterity. The sign of the success of the treatment was when the woman patient would scream out in pain as the hysterical toxins left her body.
That recent Maggie Gyllenhaal film “Hysteria” was about those treatments.
I am surprised that such mechanical cures would be advertised openly for hysteria. I would love to know in which publications this advert was printed. If it is real and not a very well-done fake.
I wonder what powered it? Gives new meaning to steaming romance lol
This would be good to show on an episode of QI with Sandi Toksvig in the panel.
She’s always pointing out typical “boy things” that the elves have come up with and this would provide a welcome reversal.
