Hairy Buttsex Made Artsy
You know that annoying Tumblr thing where people strip the color info out of porn photos to make them look more like art photography?

Here’s what it looks like as porn.
Seriously, why do this?

I always assumed that this was less for ‘artistic’ reasons and more as the poor man’s version of obfuscation so the actual owner of the picture wouldn’t find it and have it removed.
Granted I’m sure it works about as well as cropping out the watermark, but for most ‘amateur’ tumblrs, it’s a bit of ‘you don’t have to run faster than the bear…’

Plus, B&W is always more ‘artsy’, don’t ya know?
Taking the color out of a photo (which was originally shot in full color), doesn’t make it compete on a level with black and white photos taken by Robert Mapplethorpe or Helmut Newton.
There are many considerations employed by artists (contrast, composition, etc.) which would differ in shooting for, and in the developing of, B&W prints. There are even various B&W films to choose from when loading the camera.
That said, my guess is that the reason is often also akin to the use of pink fuzzy handcuffs
