Way back in 2004 I called this fake DeBeers diamond ad an “old joke”, suggesting that I’d seen it circulating for years at that point:

My inclination to post internet sex memes that rely for their humor on the stereotype of the sexually-unwilling woman has declined a lot since those days. But in its place, I developed a mania for provenance, and endless fascination for discovering the sources of things. I don’t know whether any of you will understand my glee when I stumbled over this “artsy” porn photo silhouette that got ripped off without credit to make the viral fake ad, but believe me when I explain that my glee was in fact considerable:

What’s more, I can identify the model! This is none other than the legendary Jenna Jameson. There was a photoshoot by photographer Earl Miller called Shadow Play: Jenna and Guy, that appeared not only on Jenna’s website of the time, but also in the September 1997 issue of Penthouse. As we’ve come to expect, there’s no canonical complete set of these photos available online twenty years later, but I found enough fragmentary chunks here and there to confirm that the shoot was a mix of the arty silhouettes and some more conventional porn:
