Naked Magazine Shopping
Does anybody else miss the experience of shopping in a genuinely great adult magazine shop-slash-newstand? It’s been a quarter of a century for me, and I never had the pleasure of being in one with nude women in it:
This is said to be a scene from the 1969 Italian movie Vedo Nudo, released internationally as I See Naked.

Italy still has magazine stands (Edicole) and now has condom vending-machines but I’m not sure about the Times Square newsstand selling smut! Printing high-quality photos is not cheap and you can hold more naughty books on your Kindle than in your purse or backpack until the Pornocalypse comes for Jeff Bezos.
I do not miss it. There was a part of it I could not wash off.
Anticipation and danger are important components of erotic desire.
Having near limitless smut available within moments on your phone diminishes the thought and planning that goes into visiting an adult book store, or the impulsive visit that may be spotted by a colleague, or a friend of your parents, or whoever else.
Of course, once in the store, nervousness and maybe a suspicion from the proprietor that you merely wish to browse the goods means that purchasing decisions are often made pretty quickly and with only a rough idea of the contents of said purchase. The anticipation only increases as you wait to open the purchase later, in privacy.
In reality, many such places were pretty seedy and a bit off-putting, but we’ve lost something in the transition to digital, always online societies.
