Finnish Orgy: Office Humor?
I found this pen-and-ink orgy drawing (that may remind readers stylistically of the hugely popular Where’s Waldo? franchise) as a two-page spread in Finland’s Nyrkkiposti #4 from 1972. Per machine translation of the caption (see below) it appears to have been widely circulating as photocopy humor at the time:
Waldo would not be imagined for about another 15 years, so don’t waste too much time looking for him!
FUNNY TEN SECONDS:
THIS IS THE MOST COMMON DRAWING IN FINLAND!This drawing can be seen on the wall of every modern office. This is by far the most widespread drawing in our country, photocopied after photocopy and passed from hand to hand.
This is a pictorial equivalent to the popular Olli Kujanen adventures from small print shops.
The artist is unknown. He didn’t think about making money, but gave his product away for free use.
Why is this drawing so popular? Because there’s always something new to discover! You’ll never get tired of this drawing!
