Dr. Faustus Has A Podcast!
New podcast just dropped! I am delighted to help share the news that Dr. Faustus has released the first episode of his fascinating new project: The Squick Or Squee Podcast. (Click here to listen.) The podcast theme is dark erotic art, the first guest is artist Shon Richards, and it seems to me that the enterprise is off to a promising start!
Longtime ErosBlog readers will remember Dr. Faustus from his time as a guest blogger, in which role he authored dozens and dozens of posts covering sexual topics both erudite and recondite. He’s a personal friend, a generous and stalwart drinking companion, a prolific blogger, and a liberal patron of the erotic arts, having commissioned all of the artwork for his free erotic comics series Tales of Gnosis College and Fabulae Atroces Fausti plus much else besides. In recent years he’s been a frequent and popular guest on podcasts such as The Grindbin, The Mustachioed Podcastio, and Bloody Bits. And now, finally and to my great excitement, he has his own show!
The Squick Or Squee Podcast is conceived as an interview show for artists who create dark erotic art. What does that mean, precisely? Don’t ask me, and don’t guess. Instead, read the 8-page, profusely-illustrated prospectus. Meanwhile, Faustus is eager to have it known that he’s actively soliciting additional guests. He writes:
If you’re an artist who makes dark erotic art and would like to chat for an hour or so with me, I’d be very interested to hear from you!

Sadly, it’s from a spread in the November 1965 Adam magazine titled “Why A Woman Can’t Be Like A Man.” My scanset is incomplete and doesn’t include whatever non-lurid back pages contained most of the text, so we’ll never know what sexist nonsense Dr. Irwin Ross was selling.

Lenin’s Sex Worker Massacre
Today I learned that among Lenin’s many crimes, he specifically ordered that hundreds of sex workers be shot. Worker’s revolution? Sure, but only for the correct sort of workers:
“It is obvious that a whiteguard insurrection is being prepared in Nizhni. You must strain every effort, appoint three men with dictatorial powers (yourself, Markin and one other), organise immediately mass terror, shoot and deport the hundreds of prostitutes who are making drunkards of the soldiers, former officers and the like.”
Due to an ambiguity about whether a specific Russian word means “making drunk” or “being drunk”, this more sensible-sounding translation is also offered:
You must … organise immediately mass terror, shoot and deport the hundreds of prostitutes, drunk soldiers, former officers and the like.
There’s some historical ambiguity about how many of the sex workers were actually shot (as opposed to being terrorized or deported) but any public discussion of the question so rapidly fills up with tankies dreaming up creative justifications to excuse/absolve Lenin of his crimes, that it’s not an easily-researchable question for non-historians.

I don’t have a source for this, but a vintage magazine, surely. The hygienic kissing screen never caught on, for which we all are, I do not doubt, suitably grateful:
It does rather seem to prefigure the latex dental dam, which enjoyed (if I may use the word loosely) a certain currency among sex educators for a time. (How broadly it was actually adopted is a fact I don’t possess.)

Here’s something pretty gnarly, going down in a stainless steel hot tub. The photo in question might just represent an unfortunate angle from which to film a deep-throat blowjob. But it kinda looks like she’s rimming the guy, in the sense of “rimming” where the goal more like “setting the global depth record for tongue insertion.” Hard to say.
