Reading Is FUN

I’m dating myself here, but does anybody else remember the pro-reading propaganda posters that used to be plastered up in US schools and libraries? (The true slogan was “Reading is Fundamental” but the art always emphasized the first three “FUN” letters.) Well, it turns out that among the many reasons why reading is fun is the potential for what the 4chan fellows like to call “surprise buttsex”. Mind you, in the realm of fantasy art, a surprise is not always unwelcome:

Hairy Ravishing Beast

We don’t see too much of our innocence-ravishing beast, here, but that’s a short furry tail he’s got there and the “hands” are all wrong, so he’s emphatically not (quite) human:

The artist is Jean Morisot, who published his art in portfolios under the name “Jean de Sauteval”. He’s good with sweetly-horrified damsels, isn’t he?

Ravished By Clowns?

I’m not sure if I buy the “ravished” tag that Vintage Lust attributes to this ancient photo; it seems to me that the lady may just be hiding her face from the camera in mock/dramatic shame. But I’d really like to know what’s up with the funky hat that Ruffian #2 is wearing. Is he a clown? A professional lurker? The Wicked Witch of WaldoLand? What?
