Pay attention (of course) if a lady asks for something special for an event, our first Valentine’s day together my then-gf asked for purple sheets and rose petals. I lived in a share house with thin walls, and I was a poor Uni student, but damn if we didn’t have a great time when she came into my room and saw that I’d come through. Colour makes life more interesting :)
Yeah, that sounds like it might have been a test, but you know what? The smart response is to pass those, not to get butthurt about them having been set.
It’s always smart to listen to what a lady asks for, and deliver on the important stuff, explaining that you’re prioritising some things because you reckon they’re most important to Her, which demonstrates that you’re thinking about what she wants, not just what you want. Showing thoughtful intent is a powerful driver of intimacy.
There are valid tests (do I show up on time, call or message when I said I would, etc), and then there are foolish ones. Someone who sets foolish tests might not be the person for you. Certainly I had to end a recent relationship because of that, but I’m heartened by the realisation that I valued my self worth more than my desire for intimacy.
Yeah. I live in Red State Heck in a stew of toxic masculinity where the default response to a female request is a spurt of redneck truculence — “I ain’t done gotta do that!” So I was overgeneralizing in the direction of “it’s not a bad thing to demonstrate that you’re willing to perform a quest now and then, even if it’s just for a locally-hard-to-find ice cream flavor.”
I just can’t get myself to even notice the sheets. I guess that was exactly your point…
