Ninety Eight Cent Plastic Blonde
Is she a blonde in a bathtub? Or a crappy plastic figurine in a flimsy puzzle box with a hidden spring-loaded catch? Through the magical machinations of the Novelty Mart corporation, she can be both! And all for the low price of just $.98:
As seen in the pages of the January 1951 issue of Planet Stories.

When i was at school, in the 1940s, one of my friends had King Tut’s Coffin. ing Tut was a plastic mummy lying in a plastic coffin. In each was a magnet with that in the coffin being movable. When it was moved one way the poles of the magnet repelled one another, while in the other positin they attracted.
The trick was to move the magnet, by shaking, and put the mummy in the coffin. You then took it out and moved the magnet and asked your companion to put it back – and of course they couldn’t.
That’s kinda fun, Professor! Could be this bathtub blonde worked similarly.
I think it probably was. The beauty of the system was that nothing showed on the outside so you could let the other person examine both the mummy and the coffin without them seeing anything of the way it worked.
