Indy Porn Self-Marketing Challenges
Can you get there from here? It ain’t easy!
In the course of this ranty short-form video course on the difficulties of finding success as an independent porn performer and OnlyFans entrepreneur, Judah succinctly points out the problem that everybody on the adult web faces in this pornocalyptic social media age:
The biggest part of the job is self promotion. You want people to know about it. That’s the only way that you make money is if people find out. So you’re going to be out on the internet everyday trying to get people to find the links to your page. There’s a reason that fans is in the name. You have to have fans. You basically have to become an internet celebrity, micro influencer, whatever, in order to make this work. So all of the bad stuff that comes with that, gotta do that too.
It’s a social media job, and social media platforms hate people who do this job. They’ve made it very, very difficult to do it now if you’re not already established. You can’t post links in your bio, can’t post links on your story. You basically can’t directly advertise. You just have to insinuate. Because if you directly advertise,
you can get banned and then you lose your platform and lose half of your income or all of your income… The social media platforms that you’re dependent on could turn on you at any time and decide to suppress you or ban you. And then you’re fucked.
Indeed.

For security from fraud and so that every transaction I make isn’t being tracked by Visa / Mastercard and 2 percent isn’t being taken by them from the retailer – I pay cash as often as possible.
I might not have a perfect alternative to funding the corporations being so integral to the pornpocalypse, but they aren’t going to get more pennies from me that I can avoid.
