Political Cheerleaders
Did you know that Russian president Dmitri Medvedev has his own cheerleaders? Literally? Apparently it’s a fan club of attractive young women who dress up as cheerleaders and follow him around to events:

Perhaps I court suspicions of some sort of professional unfitness with this confession, but when I first looked at that second image my first thought was, “What? Their identifying slogan is in English?”
My reaction was also was “Since when is ‘girls’ a Russian word?” I thought ‘young female’ was Девушка!
Maybe post pubescent young boys in America should start wearing skimpy outfits with “T”-shirts that say “Bachmann’s boys” or rather “Бахман Ð”Ð»Ñ Ð´ÐµÑ‚ÐµÐ¹” (in Russian). They may be on to something big, and we certainly don’t want to fall behind the Russians in the race for world leadership.
Is Medvedev giving the old “Palin wink” on those uniform photos? Maybe they’re following OUR example…
I don’t know about everyone else, but, to be honest, I never really noticed the lettering on that shirt. Why that should be, I have no idea.

Gimme a G
Gimme a B . . .
I also see in the link at least one sweatshirt in the Roman alphabet. Perhaps Russia has its version of the cutesy Japlish signs you see in Tokyo? I also see that the Medvedev girls are basically aping American cheerleaders. Once again, US pop culture breaks out in the oddest places, even in Russian nationalist TV studios.
The Medvedev Girls are a Russian knock of of Obama Girl from the 2008 US Presidential campaign. The cheerleaders uniforms mirror Obama girls outfit. For reference: http://obamagir...l.com
