It all started when Molly Ren tweeted “I love this image so much and I know almost nothing about who took it or where it’s from.”
My first impulse was to tweet back something snarky like “There’s an app for that” with a link to my porn research and attribution service that not enough people use. But I made my saving throw, and thus spared Molly my snark.
Still, the image that caught her attention was intriguing and engaging, even though (like so many Tumblr specials) somebody had cropped off the watermark. I ended up tracking it down anyway, along with a companion image. They are from a page that currently loads some source but will not render for me in any of my browsers, that’s also not in the Internet Archive, but fortunately at the moment when I was looking, Google Cache still had it.
According to mouse-over tool-tip text I found on the cached page, these photos are “Collaboration #1” and “Collaboration #2” by Michel Groisman and Manuel Vason, and they’re dated “Nottingham 2006”.
Am I good at this? Yeah, I’m good at this.

Ever wonder why so many banner ads on adult sites are crude, amateurish, and stupid? It’s a deliberate design strategy:

They’re supposed to be written with spelling mistakes. It’s not that it looks homemade, as much as something is disturbed about the picture, so you look at it and you click. It’s all about catching the eye. It’s psychology. Low, low psychology. Also, really simple, stupid sentences, like “fuck the neighborhood sluts” or “hot MILFs”.

Sex Gangsters Game
More than five years ago I did a brief survey of the then-available sex games. Then and now, it struck me that that sex games are an underdeveloped genre, with a lot of profit potential. But I haven’t really kept up with developments in this space.
I did recently learn of a freemium browser game (no download, free to play, lots of opportunities to spend real money for in-game perks) called Sex Gangsters.
My first impression is that it’s a brotastic male-gaze extravaganza of pimpin’ misogyny that wastes no time worrying about consent issues. “But other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?” What caught my eye (and my interest) are the game’s art assets. It proceeds from panel to panel in an interactive graphic-novel style, and by all appearances, there are hundreds-to-thousands of said panels. Despite the generally low status and poor treatment of women in the game, they are sometimes seen getting the upper hand:
The artwork itself is nothing special, but there is rather a lot of it. Although the Japanese were there long ago, this is the first non-anime-style sex game of its type that I’ve seen in English. I’d love to see something like it with a gender-egalitarian sex-positive storyline. A crowdfunding idea for somebody to run with…
