Here’s something I did not know about Maya Angelou: in the younger part of her long and colorful life she sometimes worked as a prostitute (her word), brothel manager, and exotic dancer. As you would expect, she seems not to have been unduly ashamed about this past nor reluctant to talk about it; it was included in one of her books. Tits and Sass has an interesting article about the modern erasure of Maya Angelou’s sex work history, if you’d like to know more:
So why is it very few of us know she was a sex worker? Why is it, even in her death, as in her life, it’s such a guarded secret? Why was this secret kept by seemingly everyone except Dr. Angelou herself?

It’s pretty rough to grab and duct-tape the pizza dude for some casual gay sex-fun when all he’s trying to do is deliver your pie and earn a five-buck tip. But at least he seems to be enjoying himself by the end of the movie:

She’s trying so hard to exude sex from every pore:

However, the way she’s clutching her jaw, might we be forgiven for thinking the poor girl has an inflamed molar and is looking for a sympathetic dentist?

I don’t get much of the horrible internet hate directed my way, but I get a little; and of course you can’t be an internet citizen without stepping over cesspits of the stuff every time there’s an un-moderated comment thread somewhere. Here’s a comic response to the haters, a response that only 1.6 million of you saw before I did:
Sexually aggressive racist homophobe misogynistic cowardly illiterate wastes of human skin: this one’s for you!

Puppy tails are back!
Many years ago I linked to some waggable rubber buttplug “tails” for puppy play, but they stopped being available in 2012 or so. Believe it or not, I’ve had a couple of emails from people who saw my 2006 post, asking where they can still get these. It was a “sorry, no idea” situation until I found these:

Here’s the sales copy:
The butt plug that your loyal pal has been begging for is finally here!
Combining the fantasy of puppy play with the anal stimulation of a butt plug, anybody who wears this supple tail is bound to end up wagging it in delight while forming a deep connection with their owner. The tail portion that gives this product its name is luxuriously soft and shaped to realistically bring your canine fantasies to life. .
Available in three sizes to accommodate your desired intensity, the softly rounded plug has an arched handle that makes it easy to pull out or convenient to grip for teasing before or after use. Comfortable and hygienic and s medical-grade silicone construction means that this toy is ready for any play from gentle to “ruff”!
2021 update: These specific toys have vanished from the market, as most eventually do, but there’s a similar tail in this puppy play set.

In response to a hand-wringing male critic, here’s Alyssa Rosenberg on romance novels:
Romance novels are attractive not just because they are a gratifying escape but also because they sometimes feel like a respite from from the significant hostility that a lot of literature shows women.
As Maria Bustillos put it in a 2012 essay, even when they are limited by the periods in which they are written, “Romance novels are feminist documents. They’re written almost exclusively by women, for women, and are concerned with women: their relations in family, love and marriage, their place in society and the world, and their dreams for the future.”
