Three Graces On Antidepressants

This image of the Three Graces is from a 1500s-era bridal chest, and is a detail from a painting found here:

three graces, no smiles

Supposedly the nudes represent beauty, mirth, and creativity; if so, all I can figure is that Mirth is the one with her back to us. That, or the painter in question couldn’t paint an ounce of affect or expression with a gallon of paint, because nobody in the painting has anything resembling an upbeat facial expression. I find this odd in a painting that’s supposed to be in celebration of marriage, as per the caption:

Anonymous painter called Pseudo Granacci, Triumph of Venus, c. 1500, Walters Art Museum, Baltimore. Venus, the goddess of love, here champions good marital conduct. She has captured naughty Cupid and restrains him with her belt. Venus also prepares the way for the Three Graces–representing beauty, mirth, and creativity–shown nude at right. The frequent depiction of restraint, mature guidance, and good feminine behavior was a response to the age disparity common in Renaissance marriages. Thirty-year-old grooms entered into quasi-parental relationships with teen brides whose capacity for virtue was considered dubious.

I’ll betcha those teen brides could smile better than that, though.

Fake Whipping For Uschi

In response to the two recent posts that featured Uschi Digard (here and here), a fan emailed me this link to a video of Uschi “enduring” a fake whipping (note the telltale not-shackles that wouldn’t stop Andre The Giant from taking his hands out) in a 1973 movie called Superchick. I think we can safely assume the welts are done with red ink:

Jessica Alba, Cowgirl Stripper

Somewhere I found this photo of Jessica Alba doing her cowgirl-stripper routine in the movie Sin City:

Aroused By Flooring

In somebody’s .sig line somewhere I saw this quote from an old episode of Buffy: You Know What She Does, and it made me laugh. It was true for me at that age, too:

CORDELIA: Well, does looking at guns make you wanna have sex?

XANDER: I’m seventeen. Looking at linoleum makes me wanna have sex.

Frosting Megan Fox

Because starlets are always more fun with stuff smeared on them:

This is one of those pics that is making the rounds of the celebrity blogs, but I can’t find a single one of them that’s sane-and-safe enough for a link credit. (When the advertising on site gets above a certain manic-desperation level, I just can’t link in good conscience — I assume y’all are looking for entertainment, not epilepsy.)

With Cheerfully Malicious Intent

It’s almost always the facial expressions that make good porn interesting. This photo (from Men in Pain via Kinky Delight) is delightfully ambiguous with regard to what exactly Audrey Leigh is doing that made him levitate off the bed while stretched tightly to its four corners; but it’s clear there’s concentration and enjoyment involved on her part, and there’s no doubt his attention is focused somewhere in a direction that his eyeballs cannot help him with:
